The Daintree region is a nature-lover’s paradise abounding with tropical birds, butterflies, reptiles and countless species of wildlife, not to mention 3000 plant species from 210 families which are found in the Wet Tropics. This area is home to about a third of Australia's 315 mammal species - 13 of which are found nowhere else in the world. Salt-water crocodiles inhabit the large rivers and are frequently spotted from any of the many cruise-boats.
There are many river tours throughout the day, some offering a short crocodile– and wildlife-spotting experience while other interpretive cruises cater for special-interest groups such as birdwatchers, naturalists and photographers, and are operated by world-renowned experts in their particular fields. Float down the river at dawn or dusk and marvel at our hundreds of species of tropical birds … or simply enjoy a tranquil sunset cruise with a glass of good wine!
For those wishing to venture a little further afield there is a variety of day cruises to the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas, where there are also many shops and restaurants … take the Daintree Ferry and drive through spectacular rainforest to Cape Tribulation … go for a walk and swim at Mossman Gorge … or spend a day up on the Atherton Tablelands …
So many ways to enjoy your Daintree Region holiday – just see what we have waiting for you on the rest of this page!
… THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
