Daintree is home to numerous talented artists and craftsmen and women and you will find their work in a number of shops and galleries. There is marvellous pottery and there are paintings, textiles, sculptures and timber works of art.

If you call in to The Daintree Timber Gallery or Eliza's Daintree Rainforest Gallery in Daintree Village, or Hoglund Glass in the beautiful Whyanbeel Valley, you can actually watch the artists at work.

Locally-crafted souvenirs and locally-grown produce - Daintree tea, organic coffee from the Atherton Tablelands, plus jams and preserves made from local exotic fruits are all available, together with basic food and other supplies, at a number of shops and a service station. (The closest shopping centre and supermarket is in Mossman.)

Medical facilities
The region is serviced by a number of doctors and pharmacies in Mossman, where there is also a Hospital. There is also a pharmacy and a health clinic north of the Daintree River.

Banking facilities
There are no banks between Mossman and Cooktown, however there is an ATM at Caltex Wonga Service Station.

Postal Facilities
The area’s main Post Office is in Mossman. Postage stamps are available at Caltex Wonga Service Station and at the Daintree Store.

Telephones
Public phones are available at Caltex Wonga Service Station, Daintree Village and at the Daintree Ferry. Mobile phones have limited range - best areas are Mossman, Wonga and Daintree Village.

Toilets
Public Toilets are situated near Foxton Bridge just north of Mossman - at Caltex Wonga Service Station - at the Daintree Ferry - and in Daintree Village.

Transport
There is very limited public transport throughout the region so a hire car is the most convenient option.

DAINTREE VILLAGE STORE and RESTAURANT

ELIZA'S RAINFOREST GALLERY

In the village's main shopping area follow the path and relax a while in the garden next to the pond or waterfall. Visit our gallery where you will see pixies, Elves, Gnomes and other hand made pottery being made. Paintings are also on display as well as the work of renowned local potter Ellen Terrell.

HÖGLUND ART GLASS STUDIO & GALLERY

Glass artists Ola Höglund and Marie Simberg-Höglund welcome you to discover the magic art of glassmaking. The studio and gallery have a wide range of handblown goblets, platters, vases, bowls and glass jewellery. OPEN 1 JUNE TO 31 OCTOBER. Visitors welcome 10am - 4pm Friday - Tuesday (closed Wed/Thu) Whyanbeel Road in 580 Whyanbeel Valley via Mossman and Miallo. The studio is towards the end of the no-through road, cross the Schultz Bridge and continue until you see the sign on the right hand side - you can't miss it.
